Taimen
Taimen (Salmo trutta) on lohta pienikokoisempi Lapin kylmissä ja runsashappisissa vesistöissä tavattava lohikala. Taimenta on kolmea ekologista rotua: meritaimen (1-10 kg), järvitaimen (1-7kg) ja purotaimen (0.2-1.5 kg). Taimenet kutevat sorapohjalla virtaavassa vedessä syksyllä ja poikaset kuoriutuvat seuraavana keväänä. Nuoret ja pienikokoiset taimenet käyttävät ravinnokseen eläinplanktonia, hyönteisiä ja pohjaeläimiä ja isokokoiset kalaa.
