During the first period, although the axe blades and some of the spearheads were still made of bronze, most of the spearheads, the knives and the daggers were forged from iron. The production of cutting tools and weapons from bronze ended around 500 B.C. During the first period, the Ananino culture spread into northern and northwestern Russia, and its influence extended into eastern and northern [[Fennoscandia|Fennoscandia]].
